It's a hectic hectic day !
Yesterday and today, admission really does stream in like water. Never ending. When NM approved to open our Oncology cubicle to accept general med case, the admission just throw in lodgers to that cubicle. One after and after, its really exhausting to repeat all over and over. Parent's getting demanding like as if the whole hospital we're only nursing their child.
One A1 room lodge 2 patients inside, one of which is a 2 months old infant whose mother is breastfeeding the child and the other one was a 9 year old school age child that is a PAEDS SURG case that came in for some U/S scan! Oh man! That's really insane! The treatment category is no longer standardized !
Onco patient, readmitted for chemotherapy and some other underlying symptoms.. those are familiar patients from UAE..
The ward had really turned into a MAD HOUSE with multidisciplinary sub groups. The nursing counter without a ward clerk is even more chaotic..No one to do the appointment faxing, no one to do the d/c and admission censors.. Case files were all over the place, DDMS called to find casesheets to send to them.. Pneumatic tubes were all stucked in the lab when their system is under free run. Porter was needed here and there, to send patient to DI; to send specimens to lab; to send casenotes to DDMS..
What's worse is that the people u are working with. She the one, who nag non-stop. I'm her junior, and yet i am doing most of her work! Janice ah Janice, Michelle ah Michelle, Faezah ah Faezah... its like as if once she call.. we have to do her stuff!! She will just open her mouth and nag nag nag nag non-stop! Janice ah Janice.. Ya.. i know its very busy.. but her nagging really makes me feel even busy! "Mother of the ward.. " oh please!
BMA (Bone Marrow Aspiration) and LP (Lumbar Puncture) done this morning. One after another. Total nursing care, heavy workload! Nurses / Doctors didn't go for break, just because the work is more important than their health! Really cant afford that 15 minutes to eat. Because every minute, every second, everyone is working so hard.. just to finish the task ! The task never stops, it just carry on til the hand over to the next shift, only then the nurses in-charge will then breakfree. This continues from Day to Night and to the next day again. Its really a vicious cycle.
I've got headache these few days while working. Those throbbing pain that peirce through your head. These are all the daily work stress and the daily hassles that can be relieved through sleeping. For once, i thought to myself, i dont like to continue like this for the rest of my life. I wanna breakfree one day. One day, i will...
Just today, after my work, i walked out from the ward feeling exhausted. Legs were numb and sore from all the walking. All i need is a good rest, cut off myself from thinking of the ward hassles. I dread myself to work each day.. shift work is just too tiring for me to take. I dont want my health to deteriorate as days come by!
//On a side note,
I miss my tasmania so badly.. but i know i will see him soon! Tmr is my OFF DAY !
Darling, there will be Janice own boiled barley water; Agar Agar; Tuna Sandwich waiting for you tmr ! =) Loves!!
